Help! I have some overheating issues
Any advise would help on this guys. Thanks. I bought an 04 f350 4x4 diesel from a small town dealer a couple weeks ago. Today i got loaded up, towing my 21' toyhauler and left for Glamis. My trailer weighs about 8500 loaded. Anyways. About an hour into it while going up a hill on the 10fwy, which wasn't that big. My engine engages its safety mode and shuts down a couple cylinders. My engine temp is registering HOT. So I pull off to find: My coolant is below the minimum level. I add coolant and wait for the engine to cool. I also noticed that wires are hanging out of my fan shroud. Looks to be coming from the fan clutch. So after it cools back down. I start back up the hill, only to have it do it again. So I canceled my trip and am looking for solutions. I checked my motor, trans. oil all were good. Any ideas why I was overheating, could it be as simple as replacing the I'm guessing sensor? Would that cool the engine that much? Am I missing something? Thanks
