Well, I pulled my alpine deck out of the sonoma today (Insurance agent is coming tomorrow to look at it) and am thinking about putting it in the ford (Yes, I take the face plate off and take it with me wherever I go, even if it's just in the bank for a deposit!) but I have run across a problem, HOW IN THE HECK DO I MOUNT THIS THING?!?!?!? it was easy in the sonoma, has tabs that hold it in place from the original stereos holes, but now... absolutely no clue...
Also I should add that the dash has already been cut, so not a big deal to me to cut a little more. it was cut to put a tape deck in, 2 shaft with a box in the middle. for that I just put the nut's on the shafts tight and that's all that's supporting it, haha! I installed it in front of checker when I bought it.
Many people build a small box or something to mount it under the dash so you don't have to hack up the dash. If yours is already cut, just cut the proper size rectangle, slide the sleeve in and bend the tabs. You may need to support it on the backside.
You have an easier time than I am looking at. I have a hole in the dash that is about twice the size needed for any stereo I am aware of, and it looks like 2 drunks cut in after a bender. I am having to weld a plate in to repair it before I even think of putting a stereo in.
Get your hands on a glove box door for future use. By this I mean you can use the door to fill in the hole made by cutting a hole for stereo. It has the same contour of the dash and is an easy patch. I'm all for mofifying to your liking especially if that's the way it was when you bought it. But in the case you want to go original, future "patching" does'nt have to be hard. Here's a picture of my dash. No radio, no glove box. My liking to a bad dash.

ya, I found one in a junk yard but didn't have the cash to grab it.
The dash was already cut when I got the truck for a shaft deck, I just made a much cleaner hole for a DIN, eventually when the truck gets restored I'l patch it and put the stock AM back in, and then something in the glove box.
But this is my driver right now, so... I want easy access to my music, haha

What kind of Satanic steering wheel is that?
What did your seats come out of..I'm in the market for the same style.
The Alpine looks IsoGrifo....what kind speaker set up ya using?
bridged a kenwood 5x7 120 watt in the stock center, and got some cheap 4.5's in the doors, got some 6.5s to put in, just didn't have time last night. actually, I want 6x9s in there.
It works out, I fade it to the rear just slightly because the center is getting the power of two speakers.
Only problem, I need to run a constant battery source, right now it's just to the fuse panel, but I have to manually turn it on every time I turn on the vehicle and the presets serve no purpose, haha.
