Oil Cooler

Hey guys, my dealer finally correctly diagnosed my puking issue. After 2 new degass caps, they finally completed the entire TSB and found a 65* temp differential between EOT and ECT. The TSB says +/-15 is ok. Anyhow they said my oil cooler is trashed. They are not sure if the EGR cooler is bad until they take it off and pressure test it. I told them not to do the tear down becasue I want to delete the EGR cooler. Do I need to buy a completely new oil cooler?? I thought I read somewhere that I could get a re-core or something like that. Ford wants $2500 to do oil and egr cooler, that is insane. Also, I have read several posts on the tear down to get to the oil and egr cooler, but does anyone have torque specs to put it all back together. I also plan to install the coolant filter. Should I do anything else while I am in that far? Any tips or tricks I need to know for tear down?

The oil cooler core is available separately.

Change the HPOP screen as long as you're in there.

if you have an early build 04 (icp sensor in rear) between 12-14 hours. the egr cooler is about 500 and the oil cooler kit 350 or so. so just my bad math says there close on price.
tear down for me is stright foward and easy for me (ive done a bunch). I took 2 of them apart today and one is back together. the job pays us about 10 hours under warrenty.

so far as torque specs no part of that job really requires torque specs. I do mine with a 1/4 drive air ratchet and a 3/8 gun.
also make sure the are around the oil cooler is clean before removing it. keep all the debris out of the sump you can if you fail at that part youll toss a hole in the ipr valve.
