Lift and Maintenance Question
Hey guys,
I have a 2005 Excursion 4x4 powerstroke. It has 162k miles and seems to me to be running damned good. I have two sets of questions for the experienced guys. What should I prepare for as far as maintenance goes? The vehicle used to be some sort of commercial vehicle but I am not sure what but carfax reports that it got all of it's regular maintenance. Should I have the turbo rebuilt just incase? Do I need to replace the injectors? How long does the shortblock last typically? How about the transmission?
All the fluids look good and I'm pretty sure I have very good compression, she'll leave tread with my 31" toyo's off a light when the turbo kicks in!
Next question, I am shopping for a 6" lift. Everything I am reading says to get the Donohoe (Icon) lift. I priced out what I would want and for the whole package it was over 3 times what the others were. If money were no object would this be the lift kit I would want? I want the truck to be ready to go offroad in the future so it's not a just for looks kind of lift. I will also be adding some custom metal work to the truck probably adding atleast 1000lb's.
Thoughts?

i'll throw my $0.02 in here, but i am far from "experienced." I have a 2000 Ex 7.3L with 130,000 on it and have had trouble out of my front wheel bearing assemblies. if you haven't already replaced them, i would check them. also, ford says that they are "unserviceable", but you can actually grease them to extend life. i also need to rebuild my turbo fairly soon.

I was tempted with a Donahoe (Icon) kit - as the guy knew his suspension...but when my buddy at AFE told me about this:

Not the same maanagement, still a great product. I love my all spring lift and I did go with all the options. Next I re-gear it for the new tires.
