Integrated Trailer Brake Controller

I have a new 09 f350 with the the factory integrated TBC .
My question to other owners ,after rereading the owners manual a few times.
regarding the proper way it should work an how it is displayed in the Instrument cluster.

My 09 does not display trailer connected(though when used with an 06 f250 it shows trailer connected)so I don't think there is a problem with the trailer itself.
The trailer brakes are working ,the gain can be adjusted with buttons up or down and the display shows it for a few seconds then goes blank

Question? is it supposed to stay on in the display when the trailer is connected?
When pushing the brake pedal is it supposed to show the ouput on instrument cluster?
when reading the manual I get the feeling it is .

Thanks in advance

Rich

It has been awhile since I sold my 05 SD with TBC, but if memory serves me correctly the display will show you have your trailer hooked up all the time the key is on. It should show green if everything is good and red if there is a problem. A quick call to your dealer can clarify for you. With no trailer hooked up the display was blank after the original check when the key is first turned on. Your 09 may be a little different than my 05 was.

just to clarify, are we talking about the message center where the odo is? Or the TBC itself?

Message center is not going to show anything as that is for future revisions.

On the TBC as Greg B said, it should show continuously a display of the a trailer and the gain as long as you are hooked up to a trailer.

On the '09 trucks, I think the display for gain/output is in the message center. While I can't verify this, the '08 trucks seem to have a small display on the actual controller itself.

On my truck, whenever a 6 or 7 pin connecter os plugged in, the output graph shows in in the message center; I just have to press the Select/Reset button to cycle through until I get the trailer status.

Thanks for the replies guys .
Still trying to figure it out.
Seminaryranger, that is what I thought from reading the manual.
But I need to verify it before seeing the dealer
The trailer works fine with my 06 F250 TBC (OEM)
Maybe I haven't got the message/info center setup right!

any 09 owners out there, that can help?

I have an 09 350 and yes it is in the message center. If you actually have the 7 pin hooked to the trailer and start the engine it will cycle through the display automatically and tell you trl is hooked and the gain that is set.
