napa part # 6637 air filter. use a small piece of 4" pipe with a 45* bend to fit it up. or you can use a longer piece of pipe with a 45 at the end and use a 4" coupler to attach it to the intake. Clay at riffraff diesel carries all the parts to put it in and its pretty cheap. if you want to built the kit yourself get the filter from www.fleetfilter dot com. about 40 bucks after shipping i believe.
I agree with all above. You will love the sound and better filtration for your turbo. You might want one of these as well.Pete makes a great cover and can do some awsome graphics..FilterCovers
ok so the filter just lays there in the old air box spot. is there any noticable performance gains? should be a good as any after market intake other maybe pulling in more hot air.
It is not going to jerk your neck back but you will tell a difference and you know there is clean air going to the turbo. It works well with other mods down the road.....Like Talyn says,Clay has a kit to do the CCV and filter all in one.I thought you might want to look at different cover schemes is why I sent the link to Covertek.

I installed the filter and a 3" downpipe at the same time so I dont know how much credit to give to what mod but I can say that the combination got rid of a lot of turbo lag and raised my peak boost number by 3-4lbs. This is with no muff nor kitty and 4" exhaust.
at idle for extended periods of time is the only time that there would be a lot of hot air going in the intake. when your driving down the road so much air is pulled into the engine compartment that the underhood temps aren't bad and are of no concern.
It's just as good as just about any other aftermarket intake kit. The only way to make it better would involve making a sealed box around it with a cold air supply. But like Strokin'_tatsch said you won't have a problem with hot air except when at idle and not moving
A guy dynoed his truck here locally and they bolted on a K&N Cold air kit to his diesel.
I'm pretty sure it was a dodge, coulda been a chevy.
anyways.
he lost 8 hp with the K&N cold air kit.
