I found my bed!!!!

When I got this truck, I saw that the inside of the bed had been carpeted and was rather dirty. The PO told me he had done that so that his dog would have somewhere comfy to ride. I later found out there was a pad under the carpet...

During the time the PO drove this truck, he left the topper windows open and one of his wife's cats clawed a big hole in one of the screens and was able to gain access to the bed...

I've been having a problem with condensation forming on the roof of the topper and came to realize that it was probably because of the carpet and pad - it had been acting as a sponge, trapping water, for who knows how long...

So, today, I decided to tear the carpet and pad out of the bed. I cleaned out enough cat hair to make a small pillow with (anybody want a cat hair pillow?)

The PO had used self-tapping screws all the way around the edge of the carpet to hold it down and, after I got everything out, I found out I had a bed bolt missing but, overall, I'm very surprised at the condition I found the bed to be in... It had been covered for most of it's life, I guess - It had a camper covering it at one time and now, it has a topper covering it...

Here's a shot of the front of the bed - I'm not sure what the purpose of the duct tape is for lol - I'll have to pull that out someday:

Here's a shot of the rest of the bed - I've still got some little bits of carpet attached close to the tailgate - I'll need to take a cutter or grinder to those screws as the heads are in too bad of shape to use a screwdriver on:

Another shot of the middle section of the bed:

I was expecting for there to be more rust than there actually is - I've already sprayed some rust treatment on the spots I saw - the underside of the bed is in good shape also. The wheel arches are shot to hell but that's a project for another day...
