I am now on my 6th fuel pump in 6mo i put a 3/8 line filter on the suction side and still lost a pump the guys at napa tell me that the filter isnt able to catch all the particulate and that is what is taking the fuel pumps out . What do you guys think?
Full it off. Replace 0 rings and clean it. You wont believe all the junk that builds up. It's probably best to pull the bowl and pull it apart too and replace its o rings. I like the o rings available here.
thanx ill give that a try i am also going to run off my new rear tank solely and see what happens there arnt any shims or anything stupid like that that go under the fuel pump?
Did all the pumps fail on the low pressure side?
How much crud is in your new installed filter?
Performance problems?
Have you run a return line loop test?
It will test for air in the system.
Most times a pump failure is traced to an air leak
into the fuel line or a collapse of the line under a vac.
A high vac on the low side suction of the pump will
kill it no time.
But motor will have running/performance issues way before a pump failure.
I would check the rubber lines at the tank for cracks. Could be you draw air
into the system and it leads you to believe its the pump. The OEM quick
connects are known as a source of the air. A full tank of fuel
will test the lines inside the tank. (no issue full/ issue with tank low)
Have seen tank delam kill pumps. You will see little silver/grey flakes
in the fuel filter.
not getting any air but i was getting the gray flecks off the front tank so i guess i should just by a new front tank. the other problem arises also that if i go more than 3/4 pedal about 75% of the time it feels like i am out of fuel (just like a flat spot )
The flakes can/will cause a pump failure.
Its time to replace or boil out the tank.
Back flush the whole fuel system during the repair/replace.
The coating inside the tank is in delam.
