Gas tank question.

Gas tank question.
I have a beat up 78 F-150 long box that I am restoring, and I recently acquired a really nice 79 short-box donor truck with a lot of usable parts...one being the gas tank. The tank has a "rollover valve" on it, and I have never seen or heard of one before. The tank on my 78 doesn't have one, so I don't know how(or where) the valve gets worked into the equation(the tank was already unhooked out of the parts truck, so I couldn't see how the valve was hooked up). Can I just plug off?

i have the 77 short bed so im not sure if this is the same or not but on my truck u have a hose that connects to the roll over valve then goes to the front of the tank to a pipe mounted on the center beam that goes to the passenger side of the truck inside the frame up to the cab then goes to the outside of the frame to the front of the cab as for where it goes from there i cant tell you the PO cut it off but i hope this helps u a little

I appreciate the info! I think I may just plug it off with some sort of a rubber cover(like the ones used to cover unused vacuum ports) and hope that the gas doesn't eat away at the plug.
