Well looking into getting SCT x3, or livewire. Can someone tell me the differance between the two besides price.Does the livewire have all the guage options??Or is it only hold more tunes than the x3.Does the x3 even come with any tunes when you buy new or is it empty, and have to be loaded up.Any help would be great as I want the most info before dishing the coin out, thanks guys.

I wouldn't get the LiveWire. There is a 50/50 chance that you will get one that is going to act up on you and typically when these units act up, they really act up. Some have been great, but some have been less so.

No it does not. It does not allow for expansion other then EGT for sensors that are not available thru the OBD-II port. One that comes to mind right away is Fuel PSI, something that I would highly recommend. Also, the LiveWire doesn't even pick up all the gauges that are supported thru the Ford modules. Now granted the majority of those would not mean much to the majority of truck owners as for the most part they help with trouble shooting things, but you were asking about all gauge options.

No, they both hold 3 tunes.

They can come pre-loaded with tunes, or blank ready for custom tunes. I would strongly advice getting custom tunes and most vendors usually offer package deals for those being the device and for the milder custom tunes.
Thanks Tex.What would you suggest for gauge options? Is the edge insight a good bet?I like the gauges but i would rather keep the grab handle and stock look. When you get the x3 do you have to pay for the tunes on top of the price of the unit.Anyways thanks for the help.

There are alot of people that do the insight/X3 combo and like it. Dashhawk(which is based of the Edge device) is also something that I hear good things about.
I would make sure that they allow for expansion of other sensors(in the same manner that they do the EGT sensor) so that way even if you don't/can't get them now, you can later. Better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it. That would be the thing that I would look for.
As to tune pricing, like I said some vendors offer package deals to where you'll get a discount on 3 tunes when you pay the unit(that would be the way it is done with the LiveWire as well) usually they are the milder tunes(tow, economy, and a mild street tune). Now if you want something like Extreme Race, or Extreme Street it's going to cost the full price of the tune.
