Vibration Between 66 & 68 MPH
I'm thinking either one of my rear tires has gotten slightly out of balance or the rear driveshaft wasn't bolted up at the same spot when the shop pulled the tranny and replaced the clutch a few weeks ago, so now the driveshaft is slightly out.
I'm going to take the truck in and get the tires rotated and rebalanced today, but what do you guys think? Does this sound more like a driveshaft or tire balance issue? Hopefully it turns out to just be out-of-balance tires, otherwise do I need to take the truck to a driveline shop and have them rebalance the driveshaft? How much would this run me?
Thanks!

When I took the truck in to get the tires balanced, the guy at the shop said he noticed one of the rear tires they rotated to the front had some side-to-side tread wobble when he had the tire on the balancing machine. He said it was pretty minimal, but to let him know if I noticed it, and they will replace the tire.
Sure enough, as soon as I hit 35, the steering wheel starts shaking a little and the whole truck vibrates. The tire shop is closed until Monday, but I'll be calling them first thing tomorrow morning to have them order me a new tire.

Thats not good, if the wear on the tire is from the rear end wear and not old front wear; then you may have a problem with the rear axle where it penitrates and attaches to the wheel hub. If that is the case then the vibration from that are is magnified towards your differential and wears out the clearances and then you have repair issues there as well. Then if the tires are not properly aligned and balanced you can get wooble from that or if your ball joints are going bad. Here is a few other threads on this issue:

I asked the guy about the defective tire, and he said it was a manufacturer defect and that it is a pretty common problem they see across all brands and types of tires. As with any manufacturing process, there's always going to be some product that rolls off the assembly line that isn't perfect.
