As part of my tune up I picked up a pertronix distrib to replace the original that was wore out...
So I did the recomendations when removed TDC on #1 and marked both the direction of the rotor and housing... So fast forward to install... everything is lining up, inserted it and it goes down then stops, I give it a little twist clockwise and push it down and it seems to clunk into place; all is good right? The one thing I didnt do was take note of how far down its supposed to sit, I mean it feels secure in place and slipped onto the gear ok, but it seems to be sitting a little high or is it I dont know?
The distributer base gasket/oring top edge is peaking just above flush from the manifold mounting surface. I cant recall if that is correct or not and the pics I took dont show that specific spot clearly enough to tell.
Does this seem ok to anyone? or can someone take a look on their 360fe and let me know if thats how its supposed to sit?
If all goes well I may be able to fire her on Sunday!
Was able to find a picture that showed the base of the distributer, and it shows the distributer doesnt sit down totally flush with the top of the mainfold... There is about 3/16s that sticks up and the distrib hold down clamp rides on that.
Did you get this resolved? I am intrested in which Pertronix unit you used and how well does it work. Can you give a short list of what else you have done with your engine?
