Interchanabe Bed Years

Ok, so what year F100 beds are interchangeable with a 55? The rear fenders on my truck are in good shape but the rest of the rear end is just about beyond repair. What year beds will fit on the 55? There is a 78 with a stepside bed on it for sale near me that looks almost identical in construction to what came with my 55. Will it fit? If not, what is different on it?

The later model stepsides are the same as yours with the exception of the fender bolt hole placement. The later model bedsides have the holes about an 1-3/4 higher.

53 thru 72 I think on the step sides. I read somewhere that they changed something very slightly in 57 but I don't remember what it was. Shoot with a drill and bolts you can make anything fit on these trucks.

Might even be up to '78, the only thing I remember being told was different was where the bolts for the running boards connected to the fenders.
