Help?!?

In my last post I explained in small detail what state my bronc is in.

As it states I attempted a trade.

and the kid destroyed the wiring.

I had an alarm on it, but after he was sick of it he decided it would be wise to grab a hold of the alarm control box.....and RIP it out.

I have most the wiring mess cleared and going to continue in my best efforts today to get things right with it.

but now when I push the rod down (lost the key and had to move it or be towed so I have to take a hammer drill and bypass my key) the brake light comes on, no action from any ignition components.

could use some help with that if possible.....planing on replacing my entire columb, dunno if that will be a better chance or not.

and the last portion.
the ECU/ECM harness was ripped to shreds.
is this a hard part to find?
I hear due to the fact that this is a Gen1 EFI system there are soo many different parts out there and only one fits......am I good to just find a same year bronco with the AOD and 5.0L V8 and grab it or am I gonna be searching a while?

I have even contemplated pulling the plenum and injectors off and making it a carbed gasser......it looks possible.

any input on this would be MUCH appreciated.
wife wants it gone if it's gonna be too much time and money.

thanks again for reading.
hope I can get some good replies to help me out!

-Drew

No help yet? It's only been 12 hours, hang in there.

I think Ford Fuel Injection dot com has some information on which ECU to use and the numbers.

You say the ECM wiring harness is in disarray. Which portion? From the multi connector on the firewall out into the engine bay or from there into the cabin? The engine bay harness is relatively simple to pull from another truck/Bronco of similar vintage.

If you are replacing the ECM itself yes, you are limited to certain specific units that can be used however, the rest of the components are fairly generic. Are you missing things like sensors and electronic control devices or is the harness just a shambles?

The harness in the cabin is just destroyed.
I found another parts truck in town that has a 5 speed, it has the same motor and I am thinking of swapping the manual over to my bronco, I don't like driving autos, the bronco was free so I am no gonna argue with a free truck but I can always change things. I've been looking to do this swap for a while so......it should all work out.

and swapping the harness and ECU (seeing as it will be going from auto to manual) should POSSIBLY fix all my problems.

correct me if my above statement is incorrect, but I have looked into it for a while, and everything looks like it should fit right up, the only big thing is drilling a hole in the firewall to mount the clutch master cylinder.

as for the ignition problem, Ive reviewed the wiring schematics for the alarm, I'm gonna have a professional fix that for me so there are no questions, to the best of my knowledge there are NO missing sensors or control devices. I'll update as necessary.

comments? advice?

You are correct about the PCM/ECU swap if you intend to put the manual into the truck and the donor truck had the same engine. The cabin portion of the wiring harness should work as well.

Have a close look at your firewall. All of mine that had autos had a cover mounted over the hole where the clutch MC should go. You should just have to unbolt the cover and put the MC in its place. I am in process of this same swap in my '93.

I figured it'd be similar.
please let me know how your swap goes, I wanna know what snags I may encounter along the way if there are any.

as for the ECM.....or ECU however you want to address it. I was looking at my old one and the numbers on the new one didn't match.

the number set is F1TF-12A650-ASA, I was wondering if it was the correct one.
the new one isn't in front of me but now what wasnt working before IS now.

thanks again all

when I turn the key the "Brake" light goes on.....no other action.......anybody know what this could be?
