warm in my cab

A while back I asked if anyone else was experiencing a warm cab even on cool days with the heater off. I got a couple of good responses that suggested that a heater door may be stuck open or a valve not working. My dealer believes that stuff was working right. But they replaced the insulation pad on the firewall because he said it was falling off and had slipped down.

He also told me that these trucks run at a maxium temp under the hood. If that's the case what would it hurt if you had a cowl induction hood like my 1969 Camaro had to let the heat escape.

I saw in a DieselPower magazine either a hood or the inserts to put IN your hood on the top that are louvers that, while allowing more air to reach the engine, also lets out critical heat during operation. Somehow they are designed to not let rain in. They looked pretty darn cool and seemed very practical. Ill look for the link.

In my opinion the engine needs to be kept as hot as possible. I would not do anything to cool it other than the obvious radiators and normal driving. The 6.4 uses heat to run at it's maximum efficiency. Truthfully, all diesel motors need to be run as hot as possible without overdoing it.
