found a 240 head

This is my first post, so allow me to say HI EVERYBODY. I've been doing some research and workign on my truck when i get a chance. The truck is a 1981 F250HD 2wd with the T-18 behind it. i was driving it for about 6 months when i couldn't afford to keep it on the road. now that i am in a position i wanna tune it up some and use it. My biggest question right now is this:

at my local pull a part i found a ford mustang with a 240 i6 in it. i pulled the head already and it's sittin at my friend's place. now i heard that it breathes better and increases compression to about 9.2-9.4. When i do this i'm guess i'll have to run higher grade gas, right? also, what will this do to the driveability of the truck? am i gonna lose my bottom end? will i keep the bottom end and gain top end (for a 300) because it breathes better? will it increase gas mileage as long as i keep my foot out of it?

i know some of these questions have probably been gone over before, but i have searched and found nothing solid. so i decided to ask directly.

Thanks in advance,
Steven

The 240 won't fit in a mustang its too long, mustangs and falcons used 144s, 170s, 200s, and 250s. These heads have the intake manifold (log) cast into them instead of bolted on, and sorry they won't fit the big sixes they are almost 4 inches shorter than the 240/300 heads. If you do have a 240 head it would be a nice upgrade over an 80s smog head. Some 240s were used in full size cars like galaxys, most ford taxis used them and other fleet cars.

A 240 head will give an approximate .5 bump in the cr.

And what johnboy said.
