Greetings everyone, i own a 1999 e-150 with 240,000miles on it. My serpentine belt broke and it ran hot for just a quick second, replaced belt then my lifter or lifters starting knocking, any ideas what i can do without replacing my engine. Thanking u in advance
I took off the belt and started the van, the knock that i thought was the lifters, had completely stopped. What could that knocking noise be when the belt is on?

It's got to be something driven by the belt. Bad bearings in the idler pulley, loud power steering pump, a/c compressor clutch, alternator....
If you can get the belt on quickly, listen to stuff at the front of the engine with a piece of heater hose or something and you should be able to isolate. Or feel the bearings in the idler and other accessories with the belt off to see if there is any looseness/play or binding.
