I got the dreaded call…the X is going crazy what’s wrong? The X is a 2004 EB with 98K miles 4X2 with a V10 with no problems until today. My wife called and stated that all of the gauges quit working but the truck was running. Since I’m at work I told her to drive it home which was about 10-12 miles. Five minutes later she calls back and says the AC / Temp is going dim and the window will barely roll up and the head lights will not come on. So I believe my alternator is gone. I believe temperature and oil are mechanical operated so does anyone think something bad could have happened to the motor in those 10-12 miles? She told me by the time she got home the motor had a romp sound like a diesel on a cold day. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
After searching (sorry for not doing that first) I think it is the overdrive wire. Since I have one of those “smart” keys can I still remove the ignition switch with out any special tools? How hard is it to replace the overdrive wire?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

I found the damaged OD wire and verified that only one wire was damaged and used some really good tape and taped the wire. Then I found fuse 45 blown, replaced fuse 45 and after 4 days I finally got a chance to start the X (been working OT). It started rough and the motor barely wanted to turn over. I did put the battery on trickle charge for about 6 hours on Tuesday. Now the ABS light is on; did anyone else have this issue after blown fuse 45? Do I need to pull the battery wire and leave disconnect then reconnect to reset computer? VASheriff thank you so much for your input!
