96 V8 conversion to carb?

I have a '96 5.0L AWD that I am researching the possibility of transferring the frame to a '48 F1. The guys on the old truck pages say many of them are doing this swap, so I know it can be done. I replaced the engine 3yrs ago with a factory crate long block, has about 25k miles. I also replaced the transfer case about 2 yrs ago, it probably has less than 15k miles. Obviously, it is attractive for me to use this as a donor since two major components are practically new. However, I am not excited about transferring all the emmissions and PCM over for the engine. I did some preliminary research and I know this engine does not have a distributor, I wonder if the block was manufacturered to have one. Does the PCM control the coil packs? Also, is possible to replace the intake and fuel injectors with a carb? Somehow I just would like the look of a clean engine in there. Any ideas here would be appreciated.

Before you ditch the fuel injection check out the following info. EFI will keep more $$$ in your pockets and make it much more streetable.

more FI info...

After thinking further, removing some or all of the electronic engine stuff will probably screw up the electronic transmision and everything else. I'm not too concerned about fuel mileage, etc because I won't drive it enough to make a difference. Hell, by the time I finish the project I'll probably be on Social Security and need a mounting step to get in the thing.

I'm still curious as to whether or not the removal of the injection is doable.

Anything is possible but you have a complete donor vehicle there so it's going to be far easier to simply keep the powertrain and wiring harness intact and transfer it to the new vehicle. The EEC computer controls the engine and transmission only and the harness is relatively self contained, so none of the other vehicle accessories will be involved.
