i just went and replaced my cabin filter. We have owned the truck for three years and i thought it was time to replace it and too my knowledge it had never been replaced by the original owner. Went and took of the first cover then the cover that says pull and all i see is a mounting place for where a filter should be. I'm glad I went to change it before winter.
Personally I think the cabin air filters are over-rated. I put them in both of my Escapes but I'll probably leave them out when they are due to be replaced. I don't think they do much, especially when driving with the windows open.
I guess a cabin air filter will reduce that somewhat.
I had my Escapes for two or three years before I installed the filters and never had the leaf litter problem. I did notice after I put them in that I had reduced air flow from the vents
I've always found it funny that the dealers tell you how important it is to "change" your filter at 30k miles or so but it isn't so important that Ford installs one at the factory.
