Bought an 05 F-250 in Febuary of '09. It had 90k on it, at 92k I had a small fuel leak and replaced a leaky O-ring, at 95k it was getting diesel into the cooling system, complete head replacement under 100k warranty. Now at 100,961 I have to have the oil cooler, egr cooler replaced. Was wondering what the chances are that Ford will give me some kind of $ help on this. Also, the service manager told me about the delete kit and said that their mechanic would do it but it would have to be "off-site" and would cost $200 more than the emission compliant fix. $2700 to do it in the shop and $2900 for the "off-site" repair. It just seems odd to me that the service manager would be brokering an off-site repair that will cost more than a shop repair, kick-back maybe. Does this price seem to be in line with a delete fix? Thanks in advance.
If you have the opportunity, I'd get a second opinion. That service manager is sounding a little fishy...if you ask me.
The EGR delete is a well known issue with lots of guys who will tell you to follow suit if you can afford it. I recommend you do a little searching here on the site and try to learn a little more before committing to spending your bucks.
