Does anyone have a wiring diagram by any chance? Call it laziness, whatever. You guys have all been pretty good with the info, why not get some more?

Sorry, I don't have the wiring diagram but I"m sure somebody will shortly. I changed to the aftermarket gage and am wondering where, on the dash, the temp light is. I don't remember seeing it at startup.

83 thru 86 it was down by the wait to start light.

Not sure where it went in 87.

slimchance,

Welcome to FTE and the IDI diesel forum.

Does the temp gauge go down to the cold side when you turn the key off?

Temp gauge wire is red with a white stripe.
Look over at the passenger side near the dip stick.
You should find a connector over there where the engine harness plugs into the chassis harness.
If you can get it apart, see if the temp gauge stays on the cold side after you turn the key on with it unplugged.
