Well i will try the ford filters and see if is better. I believe the reason ford had problems with the 6o was they sold too many to people who do not use a diesel for what is for.
In part yes, that is very true.

Lot of different schools of thought on that.

Just because it's never been to the shop doesn't mean that there isn't something going on in the back ground that you don't know about. I've missed quite a few things and some things I would have thought nothing of if I didn't have gauges or a means of pulling codes that tuners can't pull. I could think of a few instances were I thought everything was fine, but my gauges told me different.
What gauges would you recommend. My cat ran away a while ago. I believe in free flowing exhaust. Should help lower exhaust temps.
Pyro pre-turbo in exhaust manifold
Tranny Temp
Boost (up to you, some say to get it, some don't; I did b/c I have a turbo that spools more then 40 psi)
ECT and/or EOT, if you use both there is an ~ 15 degree relationship between the two with EOT being the hotter.
I would also suggest a Fuel PSI gauge somewhere in there as well.
Those mentioned above would be(in my opinion) the bare min. to making sure everything is in tip top shape. Now all of those could be pulled from the OBD-II with the exception of fuel psi and EGT as there is no support for those sensors on these trucks, so you could knock it down to 3 gauges(one OBD-II port gauge and two analog gauge) or at most 6 gauges if you do them all.
