Its weird that I just read this because I was driving down 94 today and thought I was gonna lose my teeth.

You know you're in michigan, IF you have to drive past the street you wanted to turn left onto, make a left,sit at a stop, continue on, stop again, then make a right, before you can turn on the street you wanted to make a left on. Otherwise know as "Michigan turn-around"
