Runs funny

hello. i just bought a 86 ford f-150 with a 300 6cyl. i put new plugs and wires in it and it still has a slight miss. it accelerates fine but when your cruising at a chosen speed it feels like its not all there. it stalled at one intersection for me. when it idles it will sputter a bit. can someone tell me what to do next. i dont want to spend hundreds of dollars on it if i dont have to. could it be the coil or distributor. should i just change them both. i dont think it is carberator related. HELP.

You might have a vacuum leak or bad valves or... To see if you have a miss pull each plug wire individually and listen for the rpm to drop, if you get one that doesnt change theres your dead cyl. You can check for a lean mixture by cupping your hand or a rag over the carb to richen it up, if the engine smooths out you are lean then I'd check for a vacuum leak

dry out the inside of the cap and the wires. You can spray the inside of the cap with WD-40 if you've got some.Dont use other penatraing oils, some are flamable and will blow the cap off (saw it once)

You also may have gas fouled a plug or 2 due to running it without spark making it to the plugs, but drying thingss out thoroughly should fix it
