53 rear drums

i am trying to replace my rear brakes on 53 f250. The shop manuals form the 250 says that to remove the drums u need to remove the slotted screws that are between the lugs nuts. We I have try every screwdriver and i can't move the screws

Anyone have any idea to remove the drums

have you tried an impact driver, the kind you put a bit in and whack it with a good size hammer?worst case, drill the head off but you will still need to remove the screw shank.

I have had luck using a blunt punch or bolt almost as big as the screw head and smacking it with a big hammer. After a few smacks, the screw will usually come out.
