Starter /wiring problems

Ok guys/gals, im having a bit of a problem with my 86 ford f250. I told earlier how i pulled it out of some trees and in my mind im gonna fix it up. With your guys help i had it running, drove it around the block a few times then checked my signals. i had no brake lights. I checked fuses and found the fuse missing installed a new one and hit the brakes it blew the fuse.

There was alot of stuff wire nutted by the pedals so i found a wire comming off the brake contact to a ground disc that and brake lights work. But while i was there i tugged a few wires and one was really loose that runs under my dash didnt seem to be connected to i pulled it out looks like its been cut off a while back do to corrosion on the end.

that got long sorry Now when i hit my key alls i hear is GRR GRR GRRRR
Im not sure what it is. I took a pair of channel locks and jumped the starter solenoid and the starter doesnt engage. Feels like i just took a huge step back. looking for any ideas

Is the "grr grr grrrr" like a grinding sound? Take your starter to an auto store and have it tested. The little bendix part in the end that pops out to engage the flywheel might be sticking and not fully engaging, or the little gear on the starter bendix could be stripped out.

Also, I'd change the starter solenoid regardless. It's cheap insurance, and if you get a quality one, you can be sure it's not the solenoid causing a problem.

As far as the wires, I had to trace some of my own wiring recently when I rewired my tach and Autometer gauges.....so my suggestion would be to note the color of each wire and, one by one, trace the wires until you find where they lead to.

Hope you get your truck back on the road soon!
