i have two ideas and they are the same as the other guys have stated
option 1: coolant filter & 4" exhaust (maybe straight pipe the stock if you want to save money)
option 2: SCT livewire with custom responsible power tunes
option 1- will give you the benefits of the coolant filter which can lessen egr cooler and oil cooler failures due to the sand castings plugging the system. and the exhaust will lower EGT's and sound nice.
option 2- will give you more power and better shifting due to the custom tuning. the livewire isn't the coolest looking programmer or gauge set up but it is within you budget. personally i like the SCT X3 and analog autometer gauges. i would not run any race or high power tunes since you don't have any exhaust or head studs. tell the tuner what you do with the truck, i would order an economy street tune and a tow tune. innovative diesel has great tuning if you want to go this rout check them out.
Well, you should give it to me of course! Seriously, coolant filter and gauges, then SCT for Christmas! Do the Zoodad, CCV reroute as they're almost free. Sneaky pipe or block-off the up-pipe. Lots of good options here.
No offense but unless u r running bigger sticks the intake elbow is nothing but expensive bling.
No worries. My point of doing it was to increase mileage, and it "seems" to help in town. Whether I make up the difference with what I spent will be up to date. In any case, the flow in that part is no longer a 90 degree angle.

They have never been proven to do anything but lighten your wallet.
Exhaust and coolant filter would be number one for me.
Then, EGR delete, oil cooler, SCT X-3, Gauges, by then you will need new tires So at that point you would obviously want to do a lift and install larger chrome wheels with some 400.00 dollar tires. Then most likely you would want to put in a bigger turbo.... That would then lead to larger injectors.... Aww heck... At that point you may just as well tear the whole truck down and do a frame up restore to new with a complete re-build of the engine and transmission
Get the point?
Once you start..... There is no end! I wish i would have taken that advice a few months ago... LOL!
If it runs good than put that money in the tank and have fun!
