Why I couldn't shift into 2nd gear
Well I finally got around to rebuilding my np435 last week. I couldn't shift into 2nd gear at all no matter what I did. So I bought the big rebuild kit from JBG and it was really nice. Anyways, we got into the tranny and everything was looking really good. There was hardly any wear on the gears and that surprised me a lot! But once I pulled the pto cover off I was horrified! There was chunks of metal and shavings everywhere. I pulled out the chunks as I dug them out of all the shavings, yes they were stuck into the shavings, that is how much was in there. Come to find out the aluminum outer part on the syncro blew apart. Here is a pic of what was left.
