yep, i'm not sure why our trucks gotta be the "old" trucks now. i guess they are the old body style powerstrokes only, but your right. to me 70's-80's are old.. LoL. mostly b/c that's before i was born!! hahaha. i also miss my old truck. had an '81 F250 single cab long bed 4x4 T19 borg warner 4 speed w/ a 302 and a 4 bbl carb... i loved that truck!! once i got it running it turned out my dad didn't pay for it so they original owner took it back.. now i heard its back up for sale and thinkin' about getting it back. LoL. i loved those trucks that had F O R D written on the hood and midnight blue paint... i need to get that one back!!!
OBS is used for Diesels only. cause the 7.3PSD went though 2 bodystyles of trucks.
Gasers dont use the term. Only us 7.3 people.
So if you hear somebody say OBS, they are refering to a 94-97.
If they are using it for a gasser. smack them and correct them.
Our body style I belive has the longest run time of any truck.
Early 80's (or 70's?) to 97.
With some cosmetic changes here and there, but the style of the truck has not changed till 97.
Chevy drastically started their changes in the early 90's.
I dont know if they kept the same frame. I dont think they did, because they went to their lame Independent suspension in the front.

chevy did change frames and used the IFS front end. ford retained theirs even though the f150 and 250 4x4 used the ttb front diff i believe. but chevy had to TRY to find a way to make their trucks better to keep up with ford, but as always they failed at making things better and made it worse... chevys just suck!!! LoL
Thanks, I guess old is relative. Old body style to me means 70s. I miss that truck!!
I call it ORIGINAL body style.. old is relative.. no one wants anything ‘old’ , right? I guess some people do, I prefer to have something original. Cars and trucks all look pretty much the same nowadays. I’m sure that will change, and evolve into another style eventually.. like fold away wings on a self flying jet car
What does the acronym "OBS" stand for when refering to ford trucks? Just wondering, I've seen it a few times and I don't know what it means.
The term OBS stands for Old Body Style and is used for Ford trucks F-150-F-250-F-350-F450 manufactured between 1992-1997. Does not matter the engine. Ford trucks 87-91 Bricknose, Ford trucks 80-86 Bullnose, 73-79, Dentside 67-72 Dentside. Sites for aftermarket parts: Complete performance OBS parts.
I don't think you are correct on that statement about OBS just for diesels. I own a 1997 f250 7.5 460 and if you don't specify OBS you will be getting parts for new style cab. Most parts people are not aware of Ford split year design
