Hello everyone. I'm new here as I've just purchased my first Ford Ranger. The only other Ford I've ever owned was a 1975 Ford van. I just purchased a 2003 Ranger XLT with 32K miles on it. My question is about the XLT trim package. This truck is 4wd, 5spd manual, 4.0L engine. It has manual windows, manual door locks, non-electric mirrors, no tilt steering wheel. It's pretty much a basic truck. It does have a/c and cd player and is an extended cab. Can you all tell me what makes this vehicle an XLT?
XLT is supposed to be an upgrade from the XL, but that sounds like an XL. How's the engine sound? Any grinding noise from the driver's side front? There's a chain in there that drives the overhead camshaft on the driver's side. There's another chain on the passenger side but it's in the rear on the passenger side so it's harder to hear if it's grinding.
Thanks g for the info. I've not heard any grinding noise so far. It's got the 16inch wheels with an all weather tire so I'm hearing more road noise than anything. It looks like this truck has been well maintained. I was just a little surprised about the lack of electric conviences since it has the XLT on it. Thanks....
Rangers require a power convenience group package for options such as power windows, locks, mirrors, cruise, and tilt wheel. The XLT package usually consists of chrome bumpers, alloy wheels, and cloth seats instead of vinyl.
