We have lots of trees (mostly Poplars) and my windshield is always covered with some kind of smeary greasy film that I cant get rid of no matter how many times I wash it.
Windshield wiper suppliers use Bar Keepers Friend on windshields, to clean prior to testing. Use ir spareingly, with a scrubb brush and lots of water. Or try a 50/50 solution of distilled water and 71% Rubbing alcohol.
x2 for Invisible Glass. I used to use ClearVue until Turtle Wax bought them. Once I discovered Invisible Glass, I will never go back to spray glass cleaner. The aerosol glass cleaner does not leave streaks, even in the heat.
If you have sap on the exterior windshield try using Goo Gone or WD40 on a rag to remove any sap then follow up with a standard glass cleaner. FWIW I also swear by the Stoners Invisible Glass.
18 years ago when i was in High School, I took a 2 year course in autobody repair and when ever we would get overspray on the windows we would always use very fine steelwool and glass cleaner, spray the windshield with glass cleaner then rub it down with the steelwool. DO NOT USE THIS ON THE MIRRORS. I currently have a 1967 chevy II that i like to show, well one day i was parked under a tree and had ended up with some sap on the windshield and the back window and I used the steelwool and glass cleaner and it worked awsome
also i know the walmarts i been to they have a glass cleaner in the auto section right next to the invisible glass on the shelfs with a white aerosol canister with a purple lid, which is about a dollar cheaper than the invisible glass (no clue of the brand name though) but that is also a great product.
