but I would like to know if its a good buy or if it is too high of mileage and I should stay away from it. The truck has...sigh...268k miles on the original engine and transmission, BUT it has been very well maintained and seems to run and drive like a much younger truck. The owner has thousands of dollars in reciepts for replacement parts(stock) and maintenance. What has been replaced is the entire suspension pretty much(all the front and most of the back), the injector pump, glowpugs, glowplug relay brakes, brake booster, and many other various nick-nacks. The truck is very nicely equipped for its age, power locks, windows, mirrors, power drivers seat, has recently been repainted and the interior is immaculate. He is asking $4000 for it and with the exception of a 4 inch suspension lift(done by local shop, no shortcuts) and a 4 inch turbo back exhaust is all stock. It starts up just fine in normal weather and if plugged in starts up fine in the cold. It smokes a little when it starts up and if you get into it just a bit. Has NEVER had 5th wheel or anything like that. Is this worth buying? and how dependable could I expect this truck to be if I was buying to drive for the winter and pull a small trailor for a landscape business?
However slide down the main forum page and post this on the pre-power stroke page in the diesel section. You will get good informed opinion there.
