Rear door not locking

The rear (cargo) door on my Ex will not lock. I an hear the actuator working when I hit the button on the keyless. Turning the key does not work either.. Where do I start looking to fix this?

I had the same problem with my wife's X. Take the actuator out and grease the slide assembly in and on the actuator. A flash light and ALOT of patience is needed. It helps to open the rear doors, sit in the cargo area and close the rear hatch to work. If yours is anything like mine, it was dirty and dusty inside the rear hatch. I used a liberal amount of clear grease that I use to put RF connectors together with at work. I can imagine you could use lithium grease if you have any. Its been about three months now and its still working great.

Your actuator could make noise but not be working. It is the same one as the left doors. You should do "the fix" on it if you haven't yet ,to get rid of the thermister in it. That area gets very dirty quickly, allow yourself at least an hour to get in there by first pulling the trim off around the inside and then spray penetrating oil on the mechanism, repeat, repeat, etc, work it all, and then spray a lubricant in there.

What is the "thermister" and how do I fix it?

It's the little square wafer type transistor in the moter part that doesn't last very long . They all go out after a few years. Do a search in here to find "the fix" and I replaced all mine with tin foil and not the cut-up penny method.

Mine was the same. made noise but no actual locking going on. About an hour of cleaning and spraying the whole lock mechanism, it now locks and unlocks just fine. OH. my key would not even turn in the lock. Whole thing was jammed.

My key still doesn't work but I think maybe the previous owner made some key changes.

Thanks for the help. I will take it apart and clean it up this weekend.
