Remote Start

Just wondering if anyone had an aftermarket remote start installed on their Expy? I had a Codealarm remote start on my Dodge Ram that I traded in for the expy and was very pleased with it.

The reason I'm asking uis the owners manual of my 2000 Expy warns against addind a remote start.

Remote Start

I think the problem is the PATS. Ford now sells after-market remote starter kits. On the web, you can find independents selling the Ford stuff too. My recollection is that it is Code-Alarm with some extra electronics. Had been looking at one for my '03 expy but have not had it installed.

Remote Start

I have a remote starter system manufactured by a company called Astroflex in my '99 Expedition for 4 years. Zero problems. Find a good installer, buy a good system, be prepared to pay for it,and you should be fine.

Remote Start

When I was researching for my alarm system for my '03, I was told there is a bypass module for the PATS. I can't remember the exact cost but it was only $20-30 and it would require the attachment of one of your keys (or just chip) near the ignition.

I still haven't decided if I really need remote start so I'm still comtemplating it.

Go find a good installer and I'm sure it's do-able.

i had a astro flex starter in my 98 xlt 4x4 i loved it for thos cold alaskin mornings worked very well i sold it and got a 01 sport trac and i had one put in it to same kind and they have allways done well for me i would reccomend it any one

p.s. i did have to get a new key fob the old one was shot

Remote Start

I've had remote start for 3.5 years on my '99 without a problem.
Though I did have the Ford dealership install it when I bought the truck in case of future problems and warranty issues.
Love it so much remote start is on both my vehicles!
