Loss of power on top end. Feels like fuel filters are clogged up. Replace both fuel filters and still have lack of power above 2000 rpms. Replaced turbo thinking veins were stuck, it was under warranty and was making a metalic noise when it would come off boost. Still no top end acceleration. I would like to know if the fuel tank has a filter of sock strainer in it.
Hi Bill, I think I would take this question to the 6.0 section, there are some guys there who are very helpful and generous with their time and knowledge. I currently have a thread running there on my '03 6.0 excursion, which is having problems which are similar but different . It's title is Help please, Excursion 6.0 just died, in case you can find anything helpful in it. Good luck, and keep the faith, you will figure it out. Please post results though, once you do fix it. I am kind of curious.
No sock strainer in the tank. It's a sump foot with a fairly good sized screen that would take a lot of trash to stop up. It might be the fuel pump itself, but this usually causes an overall loss of power, not just top end.
