laptop diagnostic programs....

Anyone had any experience with diagnostic systems that you load on your computer and check your codes and just your electrical system in general. Mech told me you could get a program and conn cable for about $1200 that would do what his $9000 snap on computer will do. Any advise or product names would be nice. Thanks.

oh and I have a Mac. I know that makes a diff alot of times.

the Auto Enginuity is a great product with the enhanced ford bundle will do anything you need it to to do , from the injector buzz test to checking codes and clearing them to real time data. It is the best I have found. And I think they are around 350.00 from clay at rifraff

Is yours the laptop kind? Just wondering if that would be more informative. If the handheld works good I would settle with that.

Took my truck to get it read and the mech kept flippin screens and wouldn't let me read it. Made me real mad cause I was payin and he just give me a quick run down.

This trans has got me puzzled???

It will run on Mac as long as you have VMware, Parallels, or Boot Camp.

Well, IMHO, I prefer to keep my Macs "untainted", LOL. I bought a cheap PC laptop to run AE, and that way I could drop, break, lose a cheap one rather than my Macbook Pro.

Well, that makes good sense. Thats the reason I paid out the *** for my Mac to start with. lol That brings to mind a good idea. My soon to be fiance has a good pc (good meaning a newer one that actually still works) she could donate to the cause since mine seems to be the computer of choice for her. Only fall back on the plan is the pink laptop would not flow with my garage theme. I'll talk it up with her and then talk to you about the program. I'm really a do it myself guy and collectively me my dad and brother have nine vehicles with OBDII. So that would really help. I really appreciate the info.

The good thing about the pink computer is no one will want to steal it from you.
