Electrical Gurus pkease help!!!!!!

I was driving home tonight and i heard a fuse blow and my dash lights went out along with the lights to my gauges, and my tail lights didn't work. My brake lights worked but not the tail lights So i pulled over at the gas station and went searching for the fuse. Of course I didn't have my owners manual with me. So I started digging. Found 2 fuses under the hood and replaced them. The only problem now is that my dash lights, cab lights, running lights, and tail lights won't go off. It was to late when I got home to mess with it so I just unplugged the batteries. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good call disconnecting the batts until you have time to find the problem. It's not ringing a bell for me but sounds like you are grounding a hot wire somewhere. Bump to the top and good luck.

I've seen similar problems with bad headlight switches and/or dimmers. Try playing around with the cab dimmer and headlight switches.

ok guys i finally got the switch unplugged and the lights still stayed on. I used the ohm meter and checked the wires in the gray connector and found a couple of wires that were still getting power. So is the connector bad? Any more suggestions
Also could this be related to trailer lights?

The wires that should be getting power would be
Lt Blu
White with red stripe
Light green

I am looking at the print, try pulling fuse 4 under the hood, this is the power for the trailer lighting, If it does work, then we will need to look at your trailer plug and wiring.. good luck..

pulling fuse 4 does nothing. I did find that fuse 1(7.5) and 3(7.5) were blown. I replaced them as well and nothing happened. I unplugged the wiring harnesses under the back of the truck and the tail lights went off but the running lights and cab lights stay on. My manual states that relays 38 and 39 have to do with the trailer lights. I cant find relay 38 and 39 anywhere. I have no idea. PLease help somemore. I dont want to have to take it to a shop to have it worked on

those relays are under your hood right beside the power distribution box. the little box toward the windshield. You should also have the trailer wiring manual. It could be in the glove box. I think you have a wiring thatis grounding out somewhere.

so should I crawl under the truck and follow the wires that are for the trailer lights all the way up to the cab and check to see if any of them are chaffed and touching metal? Are there any other wires that I should look for that deal with the cab lights and running lights

You should look where your trailer wiring taps off your main wiring harness at the rear because if someone has mickey moused it you could have corrosion in there.

Rob, Had similar problem few years ago. Radio stayed on, various interior lights, etc. Put disconnects on batteries while I played looking for it. Someone suggested GEM but my drivers side window quit working. Replaced the motor and no more problems???? Had lots of moisture in it. Gremlins don't play fair! Carroll

Ok there are two pig tails that come out of the main wiring harness at the back of the truck, there is one that is smaller than the other. I have unplugged everything that plugs into those two. When I unplug the harness that plugs into the smaller of the two the tail lights go off. I have followed those wires all the way up to the engine bay and nothing is chaffed or broken. Also in the smaller of the two pig tails there is one wire that is a constant hot, it is the brown wire i think. Does any of this sound familiar.
