Cold Blooded

I have a 2000 F-350 7.3 with 130,000 miles. For the 3rd winter in a row I am having the same problem. The only other problem i have had was cam sensors 4 & 6 years ago. on colder (below 40 degrees) mornings my truck is very cold blooded. always starts up normally & idles ok. you can hear a slight roughness while idelling. if i let it warm up 10-15 minutes its fine. but if i drive it soon it runs rough and will die if i accelerate much. it looses about 80% of it power during this first few minutes of driving. during this driving it lugs and has little or no power. if i baby it, & have no inclines, i can get it warmed up in 5-10 minutes & its fine.

This morning it was worse than normal. it died 1/2 mile from home. i sat for 20 minutes & it would not restart. finally it restarted, coughed alot of white smoke. after 15 minutes of warming it up, it ran normal.

I had the turbo rebuilt 2 years ago, had all new glow plugs last winter. Any help would be appreciated!!!

You'll be able to find more help in the Super Duty Forums. But based off of my limited experience with diesel check the battery and see what shape its in.

Fuel Filter...change it every 10,000 miles like a religion. Plug the truck in. 7.3s are notorious for being cold blodded. I loved my '99, and got 250k relibale miles out of it but they are cold blooded like no other. Make sure you are using a winter blend fuel too. Since the injectors are oil fired, good oil is essential I always ran Rotella and changed every 5k miles.
