Assuming you have intermittent wipers; what you describe is a very common problem. The variable speed control gets clogged with dirt/extra grease. It is fairly easy to take apart, clean it up and re-assemble. If I recall correctly there is a small allen screw on the ****, it is easier to see if looking from the floor level. Take the screw out, but be careful there is a spring and pin behind it. A real joy to find when it shoots out unexpectedly. Once apart you can clean up the contacts then re-assemble.It took me about 20 minutes the last time I did it.
