Sounds like we may have quite the crowd, plus I have somebody from NAXJA.org interested in tagging along with his Rubi from Milford. Now I just have to find out which serpentine belt pulley is whining and fix it within the next 10 days!

Its the one that is making the noise, should be easy to find.. my guess would be a water pump, take a long screw driver and put it on the solid metal at different points, and put your ear up to it cupping your hand around your ear.., and see if it gets louder at the different points. ((((watch that fan blade!!!!!!)))))

or just wait till it blows up.. LOL!!

you might be able to see movement in the pully.

good news is the water pump was stupid cheap... seems like it was 30 bucks or something maybe even less.

After searching NAXJA, I found that this is a pretty common issue with the 4.0. Most people's problem is the idler pulley, which is pretty close to where I believe the sound is coming from. They suggested a mechanic's stethoscope, so I picked up up from Autozone for 10 bucks. I will throw the belt back on and scope it out, I'd rather find out what exactly it is before I start throwing money at it. Jamie doesn't appreciate that much, lol

Lets meet at the Gas station/A&W just north of the interstate @ 9:00? That means leaving my house at 7:00am-- Duane leaving @ 6:00ish. ???

We want to g2g somewhere afterward? Someplace different--- Cracker Barrel in JC maybe? (just a thought) at say 5:30pm?

Anyone interesdted? If so I'll post up.

Perhaps.. I think it might work out fine.

As it turns out there were alot of obstacles in the way of purchasing the Rubicon, everywhere we turned, we hit brick walls, but it now looks more promising to be able to pick it up on Sat. Now I just got to figure out how I am going to juggle work, and a trip to the other side of KC..May have to ask another tech to help out.

Sounds good, Jamie will love this idea. Last time we left at 7:30 and she didn't appreciate that much, dunno why . Now she can get in another hour of sleep.

A gtg after sounds good, but sometime during the day I have to leave the group and fix my cousin's laptop screen. It was just by chance that Blue Valley was having a volleyball tournament so we will be within 5 miles of each other that morning lol. He saw the pics on Facebook and wants to give wheeling a try , so he will probably ride for a little while.

I would prolly be up for a GTG at JC somewhere, I will eat about anything.

Oh, and it appears that I MIGHT have fixed the Heap? I cleaned up the fan pulley and bolted it back on. Something whined for the first 5 minutes or so, but they it went away completely after driving for 15 minutes? Rrrrr, oh well. I guess I will just drive it quite a bit before the ORV trip and see if I can't get something to break.

BTW, how tight did you tighten down your serpentine belt on Garden Spyder? Did you use a gauge?
