Probably not - Idaho State and local police look out actively for people not wearing their belts but, as I understand it, they can't pull you over just for the belts - something else has to give them probable cause - then they can cite you for the belts. Since there are a lot of speeders and drunk drivers around here, the police have plenty to use for probable cause...

why does everyone want to dismiss this so easily? Yes it would take a cop that wants to take the time, and how many threads have I read (more in the club but in here too) about cops hammering on stupid little stuff? How many smart mouthed kids get tickets for something stupid like a lic plate light out? (I actually got stopped for this a couple months ago, it was more just a reason to pull me over and check to see if I had been drinking)
Fact is if they want to give you a ticket they will ALWAYS find something, so why not give them one that if they really wanted to be a jerk they could even impound your vehicle for?

If you want to run this stuff, fine go ahead (like I said I do run SFI belts in my galaxie and a fuel cell) but don't cry when you run into a cop that decides to make a issue about the fact those belts are not DOT approved.

My only point was, don't think those belts pass muster when it comes to safety equipment on the road THEY DO NOT.

Want to dismiss it as irrelevent ok go ahead. takes a cop with a bad day to write a ticket for doing 4mph over the limit yet I have seen a dozen guys with tickets for 1mph over, takes one just looking for a reason to bust you for not stopping long enough at a stop sign, yet my mom got a ticket for that years ago. How much does a cop have to really just want to bust you for something to give you a ticket for open container because there is an empty beer bottle in the bed of your truck, yet I got a ticket for that 25yrs ago (I did get it dismissed, but still had to take the time to go to court). How about cops that measure your bumper to see if your over height and write a ticket for being 1/2" over? is that any more serious then having non DOT equipment on your vehicle? Ever seen someone ticket for having their tires sticking more then 1" out past the fender? I have. How about a ticket for not having your turn signal on long enough when switching lanes, my dad got that one when he was 45. This list could go on and on and on for all the BS tickets I have seen for minor stuff. In fact I gave some when some punk thought he was being picked on, guess what you are now.

So yes you have illegal equipment on your truck and your under 25 you probably wil get a ticket for it.
