Hello,
I have a 91 f-150, 5.0 4x4 with E4OD. The engine in the truck is going bad and I have a complete 98 explorer 5.0 4x4 that has been rolled. The 98 5.0 runs great and I would like to swap it into the 91 truck. I have searched for info on the MAF conversion and the computer swap but I am wanting to know if this engine will just drop into my truck and bolt up and will I be able to install my A/C, alternator etc. on this engine. Any input would be appreciated before I attempt this swap.
Yes it will drop in and bolt up. For best results use the explorer intake but the truck version will work to. You will have to remove the EDIS and install the distributor from your '92 motor but that's about it, everything else you need from the truck should bolt right on. You don't need a MAF conversion to use this motor either, just make sure the plugs are wired for the 13726548 firing order.
Thank you I thought so... Is there much of a power difference between the explorer intake and the truck intake. I think using the truck intake would be easier but I could definitely do the explorer intake without much trouble.
The Explorer intake will produce a broader powerband(more low rpm TQ) but it's not a hugh difference so it may not be worth the effort for some considering some electrical, vacuum, intake plumbing, and control cable mods are needed make it work.
