Aftermarket Hella Lights - function issue
I have a 2006 F-250 with 6.0L diesel. When I got the truck I upgraded it with the factory upfitter switches for some added fog lights. I have 5 lights on the front of the truck. If memory serves, the first 2 switches were 30 amp switches and then there was 1 20 amp and 1 10 amp switches, correct? I had everything working fine for months. I recently had some body work done and the lights/ bar were removed. When I got it back I noticed 1 set of lights was not working. Of the 5, I had one set on switch 1 (30amp) and one set on switch 2 (30amp) and then a single light on switch 3 (20 amp) the 4th switch was not used. All the light on the switches themselves come on, so they are getting power. I tried switching the connections at the relays thinking a relay was bad, but they wouldn't come on. I also noticed that one of the power wires was getting really hot under the hood. The lights all have to be grounded and I did that by wiring all 5 lights to a single ground that went to the negative battery post. The relays and wiring harnasses all have to be grounded as well, but had separate ground wires. I took all 3 ground wires, they had metal ends and stacked them together and bolted it to a fender bolt. Now remember this had all worked for months without a problem, but all of a sudden the one set won't work. I've ruled out the relay, could the stacked ground be causing the problem now? The ends do look a bit rusted. Could the rusted ends be causing resistance which is why they won't work and the power wire is heating up? Any and all help is greatly appreciated, sorry for the long explanation.
