Which transmision do I have?

Can any one tell me which transmision I have the code on the inside of the door is a u. Could you also tell me what years of tranmisions will work in my truck it is a 2000 with a 5.4 its a 4x4 off road regular cab. I was told they put two different transmisions in these trucks.

U - four-speed automatic, 4R70W, newer version of AODE

The other transmission they used was a 4R100, code E on the door sticker. It is the newer rendition of the E4OD. Not sure of the compatibility years, but you could check www.car-part.com and gather a lot from searching for your transmission and see what years pop up....

Wow I would have hoped it would last longer than that, it happens though I guess... Did you change the trans fluid very often? I've done mine every 30-40K and I"m hoping I'll get another 150K out of it (I"m at 150K now)

Mine is at 250k on a 4R70W and it'll still bark the tires. No slippage. And the previous owner treated it like a dune buggy.
