Anyone ever heard of this? Not a fast spin, or a constant spin. Slows down and speeds up. Doesn't exactly look right, but hasnt changed driveability. No sounds like the bearings are out either.
Thanks
John
if the front axle is spinning then either the transfer case is engaged or the the hubs on the front are engaged to check the hub jack up the front and turn the tire if the axel moves the front is engaged, assuming the hub is disengaged check the transfer by putting it in two wheel drive then climb under the truck and turn the driveshaft by hand if you can't turn it then the transfer is engaged. if the axel moved when you turned the tire it is probbably the hub locking system (note: you may not be able to tell that there is a difference in the driveability but if you are turning the front axel while moving you are eating gas)
My front drive shaft likes to turn, its fluid drag in the t-case that makes it spin.
to a point. and more when its cold.
i would change the fluid, its probably got a few decades on it.
for example, when i first got my highboy the tranny oil was so thick and nasty that letting the clutch out in neutral you could hear it pull the engine down (like if you hooked up jumper cables to a dead battery) and the transfer wasn't much better.
