Has anyone here ever used Rustoleum (or other brand) Rust Reformer?
I have an `03 Ranger that's starting to show some rust in the area of the bottom door and tailgate seams that I'm going to give this stuff a try on. Just thought I'd see what others experience was. Thanks!
I have used a rust converter called Conquest. It works really well. You only have to remove any loose rust or flaking. I give it two or three days to dry as it is water soluable and I'm usually using it under oil base paint. Once it cures, it turns black. Always primer it first but if you try to cover it with white, you may need a stain blocker like Kilz.
Let us know how the Rustoleum works out. I might decide to try it. Does it come in cans, spray can or both?
Get some Ospho rust converter. I used it when I worked as a welder.
"HOW SKYCO OSPHO WORKS
When applied to rusted surfaces, it resists/retards rust in chemical change on drying to a tough, hard surface ready for priming. A paint job will last longer after an application of OSPHO because subsequent paint coating securely attaches itself so that moisture and oxygen normally do not attack the metal. OSPHO is water-thin, can cover a larger area than paint, and goes on easily. It is equally effective for exterior and interior work alike. SKYCO OSPHO: a balanced formula of Phosphoric, Dichromate, Wetting Agents and Extenders . . . compounded exclusively by the Skybryte Company since 1947 ... recommended by paint manufacturers."
