I asked over on DG last night and got no answer. Can anyone tell me the fittings and line sizes for 6.0 fuel pressure regulator? Also are the fittings compression, flare or other?
Thanks
Sheryle
The fittings are 12x1.5mm flat faced o-ring and the line sizes are 5/16 I believe. Possibly 3/8. If you're making a fuel system I'll go out and look closely when the sun comes up--LOL.
I am trying to make a temporary BYPASS. I want to see if the regulator is my problem. Cold it will crank, run +/- 1 minute then cut off like no fuel. Since it started this mess I put on the AirDog II. There is plenty of pressure to the bowl and in the bowl and nothing but a drop coming through the fittings to the heads. I pulled the spring and poppet out, cleaned them and shimmed up the spring a little. Same as before. Correct me if you disagree but my thinking is that fuel has to get into the heads before the Injectors or HPOP will even come into play.
Tjhe problem started gradually. Cut off sitting at a traffic light, then crank back, then engine dies when you slowed to make a turn and crank back before you even stopped. Then it died at idle and will not crank back except like I said in the first paragraph.
I can see my fittings and lines but I'm to dumb to know what I am seeing. I have made two trips to town and both times I chose the wrong fittings. Thanks for your help.
Are you monitoring your fuel pressure when the truck dies? Fuel pressure spec is 45-55 at all times. If you are checking it at the bowl and its within spec, it is very unlikely you are losing it from the bowl to the head. There are check valves in the banjo bolts at the heads but they don't prevent fuel from getting to the head. Any codes? As for the hpop, once the pcm sees 500 psi it will starting firing injectors. The computer does not monitor fuel pressure so it has no way of knowing whether it has fuel or not.
Also if it cut off at a traffic light but started right back up, then it is not fuel related. That sounds like an electrical sensor issue or high pressure oil concern. As you said, regulator is just a spring and poppet. If you have pressure in that range, there is nothing wrong with regulator.
Have you checked inside the secondary fuel filter housing to see if anything is amiss? Did you perhaps remove the secondary filter without removing the standpipe also?
