Welcome to FTE. Hmmmm Startin' out with a toughy - and on eof those subjects that there seems to be a lot of different documentation on. But the 55 guys will bring it down in scope for you I'm sure.
In the mean time here are a couple of links to engine color documents you may want to look at, and a few links to some previous discussions we have had here:
The 239 was painted yellow. All the IL6s up to that point were green. 55 is a year that is gapped in all the documentation for IL6s.

You can see how the subject is somewhat "gasseous."
But until someone shouts me down - which may happen at any moment, I'll make this statement:
The 1955 Ford Truck engine colors were the same in 1955 as in 1954, and 6 cylinder engine was painted Green - Krylon Green color #2007 to be exact.
