got a new set of 285 75r16 e load all terrain for my truck and i cant get the wobble out of them. my cousin is a manager at camping world and he mounted them for free. as soon as we mounted them and took a ride the truck wobbled. so we took hem off and balanced them again. were using sand balancing bags. after the second time it got better but its still there. i checked everything on the truck, i have brand new ball joints and all that other stuff. it has to be the tires because the truck was fine for three years with the d load all terrain and the only thing that changed was the tires. could a $210 dollar tire be bad from the factory? what should i do?
I've never used the sandbag balancing method so I have no input on how accurate that is. The term "You get what you pay for" comes to mind, the balance job was free and if YOU trust what was done as correct then you can either look for a bad tire or go to another shop that uses the tried and true lip weights to balance them and see what happens. ALSO, are you using the same rims??
OR put the set up on another truck and see what they do for it. I'm sure there are bad NEW tires but I just haven't heard of many. Keep us informed on what it turns out to be.
I had the same problem with a set of 305/75/16 BFG Allterrains, I thought it was the wheels cause they were aftermarkets. Come to find out all four of them went out of round. Called BFG and they gave me the run around, but finally said they would give me half off a new set. I wasn't happy about it but I guess something is better then nothing. I like these tires I hate to get something else, my dad has had three sets of these and they are great tires, I think you just got a bum set.
i went back to sears today and they gave me the run around of course. told me that the bag weights are no good and that i should have them lead balanced. so monday night im getting them taken apart again at my uncles work and tuesday ill have them balanced. but i had d load alls before on this truck with no problems at all so go figure. but the manager at sears told me today that his brand new set of g-forces on his mustang wont balance either, so maybe it is BFG fault. my uncle told me not to buy them cuz they suck should have listened and saved some more money and bought the goodyears from him like he told me too.
